Have you ever gone to an auction?  I have.  We were expecting our first Child and we were given a tip from  my hubby's brother.
So we went and during the preview we found THE PERFECT dresser.
It had two drawers with pretty legs and sat low with a large oval mirror on top.
It was wonderful.  Perfect for a little ones bedroom, especially if we had a girl.

So I said I would love to have that one and we should  spend X $$ for it.

Finally the dresser came up and I gave the little nudge for the hubby to start bidding.  But he did not start bidding so I nudged more
and said "GO"  and he thought I said "NO".  So, said dresser went for the very amount that I wanted to pay for it.  We had a laugh
at  our nervousness to not move the "wrong way"  and our misunderstanding.

I do not belong to ebay however I know that many of you do!   I came across these beautiful knives just now and
there is time to get in on the bidding.  I hope that you hop over and develop your strategy and one of you "win" these gorgeous knives!
Let me know if you do!

What tales do you have of auctions?  Some happy ones or funny ones like mine?

Stop over  to see these knives!

xo,
Mary

I've only been to a couple auctions. I too am nervous and not very eager to get in on the bidding.. and I sort of think its funny when people say they "won" something on ebay, because they didnt really win it, they bought it! lol
but Ihave bought things on ebay and have gotten some pretty good deals.
have a great day!

hehehe,
Viv, we were afraid to move when we went! Even when the piece we wanted came up.
I agree, "winning" is a bit of a mis-nomer. I like to know that I have GOT the piece, no waiting to see if I "won" it.

Thanks for stopping by!

Hi Mary,

They are a beautiful set of knives.
I went to an auction with a friend when I was in my 20's. I bid on a beautiful old, large dressing table with a full length mirror and sets of draws down each side of the mirror.
I won it and when it was delivered to our home, it would not fit in my bedroom. My Dad had to remodel it, to fit in. So I have been cautious ever since.

Have a great week
Hugs

AWW! Sorry you didn't get that dresser.
I have been to many auctions and once bought a quilt that was very poorly made (on the machine no less...)
by waving at someone I knew!
